You can also get the tank crew DLC which will give you access to all tanks (except the AA vehicles, you have to buy them separately). Tanks in IL-2? I've been playing that ♥♥♥♥ since the first one, when did they add tanks? With IL2BOS (I think thats the base game) you get a t34 and a panzer 3 or 4. You have a HUGE map in IL2 and you can still play with tanks on it, and it is quite realistic. Both games have Air and Ground combat, but IL2 implements them together way better than War Thunder.

WAR OF THUNDER HOW TO
Their community does seem awesome looking at the reddit and has been helpful for letting me understand jet combat for WT somehow (learned how to read the IFF for the MiG-21 here through them.) Otoh, DCS does include many difficulty sliders too to let those who don't want to go too deep to quickly enjoy them too. Certain mechanics feel too MMOish (for lack of better terms), like crew skills, spotting mechanics, sometimes unrealistic nerfs and omissions to systems compared to IRL, etc.īasically said WT is the one that can be quick to pick up, but DCS is the more detailed one. It is nowhere near the fidelity of a DCS title and ofc deals with an economy as a "balancing" metric that many find questionable at best. WT is more Arcade, basically very little studying needed, and as mentioned even in sim you can get away with a lot. To add there a re a lot of single player campaigns one can do in them too.
WAR OF THUNDER MANUALS
Some of these modules even come with really big manuals to make sure you can understand it. They're both good in their own rights I guess, but DCS doesn't have an economy for its MP, just in most cases requiring you to buy the module for it.ĭCS is often high fidelity sims, with the best done examples having most every system modeled and pretty much every button doing a thing.
